Also rumour has it that Jurassic Park is going to get the 3D make over in the spring of 2013. That is pretty much confirmed by now. I'd honestly rather just see it re-released in 2D again. It's one of my favorite childhood films, so... I have to see it. But I just don't know how good it will look in 3D. *shakes head in disbelief* ... why? Whyyyy? How about they give every film in existence the 3D-treatment to get it over with...??!!

I will be seeing Jurassic Park in 3D without a doubt. Don't care much about the 3D part, but just having the opportunity to see my all time favorite movie in theaters is enough of a reason for me.

3D like any cinematic technique, can be done well and it can be done badly. Most of the time it is done badly. Some of the time it is done well. Generally films that are filmed in 3D using a twin lens camera system work better than those that were converted to 3D in post production. Converted 3D tends to look like a bunch of cardboard cutouts and actually makes the movie seem less "3D" than normal because it just looks like flat cutouts positioned at different depths in the screen. A photograph or a movie is an illusion of three dimensional reality as it is.
However, a few true 3D movies have impressed me greatly. Things like Avatar and Prometheus had a subtle 3D effect and to be honest, the films seem pretty much the same to me either way but I liked the 3D presentations a lot. However, The Hobbit in 3D and with the 48fps HFR digital cinematography, was an absolute revelation. I would hate to have to see the film in any other format. It was that bloody good. Not only does it give a great sense of depth looking into the screen, but every individual object on the screen itself feels three dimensional. You could almost reach out and touch the fabrics of the costumes or the fur of the flawlessly rendered CGI creatures. So when its done well I love it. When done badly, it gives me a headache and makes everything seem less realistic. If it reinforces the illusion of reality I'm all for it. If it detracts then I'll stick to the 2D version.
