I Haven't checked out Walking Dead yet, but will soon.
Currently I really like Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' comics they pretty much got me into the series the first place, while reading the books makes you understand the story more. Amazing Adaptation with outstanding artwork.
I've read many of Alan Moore's finest work with 'V for Vendetta', 'Watchmen' (which recieve great film adaptations), 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' and 'From Hell' (the early shit film adaptations).
I must of read countless of others, Although I have huge Manga collection of series including Death Note (Way better than the anime), Fullmetal Alchemist, Claymore, Fruits Basket, Love Hina, Bleach, Hoshin Engi, D. Gray Man, Dragonball, Appleseed and Oh My Goddess.
I still haven't read all the Akira volumes yet but I'll definatly ge back to it soon.

The only graphic novel series I've read all the way through is Transmetropolitan, which I really liked (Spider Jerusalem's rants changed the way I write a bit). I was thinking about starting Planetary, haven't done yet though.
