I've read a few Stephen King novels. My favorites are Pet Semetary, The Shining, Cujo, Christine, and Skeleton Crew.

Skeleton Crew is one I don't have. I don't have Christine either...or do I? I forget sometimes.

If someone told me that this guy was the best-selling author of 50 novels and over 200 hundred short stories, I would piss myself laughing at what I thought would be a ludicrous lie. I mean look at that face. Never mind operating one; does he even look like he knows what a typewriter is? But it's true!Anyway, I've got a few: Carrie, The Shining, The Stand, Christine, Pet Semetary, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Misery, and 'Salem's Lot. Also a couple of other compilations I own have stories by King, but they don't really count.

Finished The Wind through the keyhole about 90% is stand alone really liked the story that derives its name from the book title.

*raises hand* Love Stephen King books, though I'm sad to say I've only read very few of his enormous bibliography.
The Shining is one of the single best books I've ever read. Wish someone would do a new film adaptation of it - the things you could do with modern effects techniques would be incredible. No production of The Shining has done the book any justice IMO. I'd say we need someone like Martin Scorsese to do it (Shutter Island had a very Stephen King atmosphere to it).
Also getting through The Dark Tower series, but its taken me over a year to get to book 5 so its one of those things I pick up now and then.

Eh, I'm fine with Kubrick's version of The Shining. It may be different from the book, but it is a fine film by itself.

Kubrick's film is very good, but as long as you judge it on its own merits. Then it is one of the better horror films ever made. But I think it doesn't stand up well if you compare it directly to the book. It kind of misses the point of the book, the fact that Jack was already a monster inside, the evil spirit in the hotel merely brought that to the surface. And it was tragic because Jack was a monster because of his abusive father. They never went into that in the film, Jack just randomly goes mental.
We need Kubrick's The Shining to be Shitcased! Would be brilliant, especially to poke fun at Shelley Duvall's atrocious acting.

The Shining is a classic. Why would it be shitcased?

You're right, it is a good movie - though Shelley Duvall was really bad...
Maybe the TV miniseries would be a better candidate?
