Which is weird considering both games have the same developers.

Yeah... as I said earlier on... I think they tried to take the whole thing into a new direction by deliberately setting it apart from AvP1&2 (at least gameplay-wise)... well... mission accomplished (in a positive sense!), I'd say... as said... the game is my second-favorite in the series... but hell... I love all three of 'em...

Yeah the new one seemed to take the Action Survival Horror route more then the FPS one. But I really enjoyed it, I spent about 3 hours in one go its survival mode which I was pretty impressed with. (considering you can get through the game in that time)

Yes... that is why I enjoy it so much... I certainly take what you labelled "Action Survival Horror" over dull FPS-action any day... that is also why I love the Thief-series so much... cause the "S" in FPS stands for "Sneaking" here And the whole medieval setting is just awesome, IMO

Always wanted to play it, but I hate stealth... I cant do it. Like in Dues Ex I was trying to get the all stealth achievement but got near the end and thought fuck it, and went guns blazing.

Admittedly... if you really want to play the Thief-games the way they are meant to be played, chances are that you have to wait in a dark corner for several minutes before making your next move... so... I agree... these games are not for everybody...

Yeah I couldn't do that. I'm a guns blazing type of guy. But Ive gone off FPS games now because they are all COD and well crap. I find them very fucking boring. I remember when FPS games were fun and not overly serious, but that seems to have disappeared from FPS games for a more intense multiplayer experience.
Online Multiplayer has been the death of certain games.... like Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3... seriously who the fuck let that guy be in charge of EA... he literally said that Dead Space 3 had to be a multiplayer game with less horror elements and more online multiplayer what a fuck head. I remember when Arkham City was still in development and they announced there wouldnt be a multiplayer mode and everyone was shocked and gaming sites called it a huge risk to do a single player only game.

I feel the same... that's why I play AvP1-3 and Thief 1-3 ONLY, if I have the time at all, that is... FPS in general is like 3D-effects in cinemas...worn out and boring...

My favorite game franchises are:
Metal Gear Solid Call of Duty Madden NFL
I rarely play videogames nowadays, but if I did, that's what it would be.

Doom/Doom II/Final Doom: This never gets old. Kill ludicrous numbers of horrible things in ridiculous environments, without any bullshit interruptions so you can be told by some twat of a CO to do everything while he sits on his fat fucking polygon arse doing nothing to help the situation. Co-operative LAN mode remains possibly the most fun I have ever had in any videogame, ever. Your best mate suddenly becomes the biggest twat in the universe for stealing that box of Shotgun Shells you really needed, and you're suddenly fighting off an urge to dig your Chainsaw into his back for the sake of survival.
Command & Conquer/C&C Red Alert: This is what RTS should be like. Easy to pick up, but fast & brutal while remaining very, very fun. None of that guff about pre-set formations or taking strategic points on the map to receive inexplicable unit bonuses, or whatever shit passes for RTS these days. The only advantages are gained by being aggressive and not giving your enemies a chance, while not leaving yourself wide open to have your base turned into a field of craters. Multiplayer is a riot too; alliances are formed and broken over resources and plain good old-fashioned opportunities for a sweeping victory.
Resident Evil/RE2/RE3: Great survival-horror experiences that are still a lot of fun despite completely losing any shock/jumpscare value over the years. I'm not a fan of the later ones so much because it's just too far gone toward brainless action-fests (where ammo is near-infinite) and 'interactive cutscenes'; stop filling my leisure time with this QTE shit! If I want to watch a cutscene it's because I want to watch a cutscene, not sit on-edge missing anything that might be important in this cutscene because I'm about to have "PRESS BUTTON NOW" screamed at me. Bastards.

Just Cause 2, the Star Wars X-Wing series, Oblivion and Skyrim. I also sank a hell of a lot of time into playing Quake mods back when it was new (about 16 years ago, shit that makes me feel old). I'd love to get Quake Rally working again. Speaking of ancient games, I also used to play AirWarrior 2 and 3 online (back when it was free to play on Compuserve). I've yet to find another multiplayer game that comes close. The same friend that got me into Oblivion raves about Morrowind. I've tried it a couple of times but haven't been able to get into it yet - it's a very different beast to the newer ES games. One day I'll get into it though.
