As far back as I can remember, some of the first movies I ever saw were the early classics from "the muscles from brussels" in a time where VHS was ruled. From the late 80's to the mid 90's JCVD was at his best delivering some of the best action films of the time with a cataloge of classics that include Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Death Warrant, Lionheart, Double Impact, Unisol, Hard Target, Sudden Death and The Quest just to name a few. These movies had a huge effect on me as a child of the 90's (also being a fan of power rangers, ninja turtles and the scores of other martial arts related t.v, movie and games that flooded the market at the time) naturally made me wanna learn Karate so I could immitate it at home lol. As the late 90's rolled in Van Damme's star had started to fade in the skys of Hollywood following releases of films such as Knock Off, Double Team and Universal Soldier: The Return, also martial arts in the media was on the decline wich didn't favour Van Damme's career. Still I continued renting the videos and watching the classics when they aired on Saturday afternoons untill I admitedly fell off track with the later Van Damme releases during highschool. Than in 2007 my local vhs rental shop announced it was closing and was selling off everything!!! So I purchaced every Van Damme film released (as well as about 150 others) and I got hooked again on and I am proud to say after that I've made it tradition to buy every film he has released and I continue to buy each new film as soon as it comes out (I have his complete filmography now). When it was announced that JCVD would be in The Expendables 2 I was thrilled because it would be the first time I would see him on the big screen and he certianly didn't dissapoint. (I saw it opening night). Van Damme is back and he is bringing the Van Dammage!

Man I love Van Damme. I have 10 of his films on DVD in my collection to I think that makes me a fan of his He had a slum from about 2001 - 2008 but after JCVD (great movie) he's got back on track, making an effort and the standard of film is getting better. Obviously seeing him in Expendables 2 on the big screen was amazing, it's where he should be. He's got a few films coming up soon, Uni Sol 4 (not in much, was filmed before Ex2), Welcome to the Jungle (his first comedy role, should be interesting) and Enemies Closer which is a low budget-ish film but I think it will be a good film. I like Van Damme and his flicks but it's up to him now to make sure he stays on top of his game, but I think he knows this.

He was probably my favorite actor as a kid along with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Haven't seen his movies in a long time but bought this four movie collection on Amazon that has Lionheart, Hard Target, Sudden Death and The Quest also got Bloodsport. Don't remember watching The Quest. Bolo Yeung was a great villain and back then I really did think Van Damme had a twin in Double Impact.

It's nice to see Van Damme making more movies again. He really did lose his passion for it from 2001 to about 2008 and made one film per year and they were all awful and he hated it, going through the motions. I'm pleased to see him back, I recently saw his new film Six Bullets and was pleasantly surprised as it was entertaining and well made for a low budget film. His performance in Expendables 2 though was brilliant.

He really seemed to actually enjoy Expendables 2, even in the press stuff I read for it his interviews regarding it were filled with passion. Makes me glad he passed on the role of Gunnar (Dolph was pretty awesome in Expendables)
